German cockroaches are the most troublesome of the cockroach species. They are a domestic cockroach that has adapted to live inside human homes and buildings. They are the cockroach you are most likely to find inside your Chandler or Gilbert home. They are small, hardy, and reproduce quickly. If your home or business is infested with German cockroaches, we can help. We offer free, in-person inspections, and we can provide you with a clear, effective treatment plan. We know that you want the cockroaches gone, and we are here to do just that.
The German Cockroach
This species of cockroach is light brown and has two stripes running horizontally right behind their head. Smaller than other species, they are only around half an inch long. In the U.S., they are the most prevalent cockroach species to plague people's homes. They are also notorious for the foul odor they emit when they are startled.
German cockroaches are difficult to eradicate because:
- They are small and can hide very easily
- Their reproductive cycle is quick, going from an egg to an adult in 60 days or less
- They are nocturnal, and often, homeowners do not discover them until they have reached a full-scale infestation
- They have adapted to be resistant to many insecticides
German cockroaches have the fastest reproductive cycle of any other species of cockroach. Because of this, you can go from a few cockroaches to hundreds in a relatively short period. Additionally, they have few natural predators and consequently can go unchecked in homes.
Dealing with a German Roach Infestation
German cockroaches are nocturnal. You won’t likely see them unless you’ve turned a light on at night, or they are becoming overcrowded. Not only are they a nuisance, but they are also a health hazard. Cockroaches can bring in bacteria, and when they get into your food supply, they can contaminate it, causing food poisoning. Because of the havoc they can wreak, you want to remain vigilant against them.
German roaches find their way inside your home through:
- Boxes and crates
- Garbage containers and bins
- Holes and cracks in your foundation
- Neighboring apartments or houses
- Plumbing pipes and drains
These roaches have even been found to hitch a ride inside of second-hand electronics!
In addition to keeping your home clear of trash, food waste, debris, and closing food containers, including pet food, one way to keep German cockroaches at bay is to schedule routine pest control treatments with Green Machine Pest Control. We will inspect your property and provide you one-time treatments to deal with any immediate issues. We will then help you establish a regular pest control treatment routine to keep them from coming back. Our Chandler-based German roach exterminators will also provide you with the information you need to keep them away between visits.
