Frequently Asked Pest Control Questions

ANSWERING YOUR PEST FAQS

Here at Green Machine Pest Control, we have spent years working with customers to help rid their homes and businesses of unwanted pests. During that time, we have found that there are several common questions that crop up time and time again. We have decided to answer these frequent questions here!

CAN YOU REALLY KILL SCORPIONS?

Yes – with the right products, we are able to eliminate scorpions. That said, long-term solutions require a two-pronged approach of both killing the scorpions that are present and keeping them from getting back into the property. This can involve some basic upkeep on the part of the property owner such as maintaining cleanliness and minimizing debris where scorpions might hide, as well as cutting off food sources and sealing off their points of entry.

DOES SEALING THE HOUSE AND CINDER BLOCK WALL REALLY KEEP SCORPIONS OUT?

Absolutely. Our experience has taught us how scorpions behave, including how and where they will try to get into the property. We can provide a thorough examination of all possible entry points and block them from being able to get in.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY NEIGHBOR HAS RATS?

The first thing you should do is get an inspection to identify which parts of your property are at risk. If there are potential issues, sealing the attic is always a good idea. If there are already rats on the property, you can also have bait boxes set out by a professional.

DO I HAVE TO CUT DOWN MY CITRUS TREE BECAUSE OF RATS?

No! You can still enjoy your productive trees. However, it will be very helpful to pick up fallen fruit when you first wake up and just before heading to bed. This will minimize their access to food.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT TREATMENT AND CHEMICAL TREATMENT FOR BEDBUGS?

Heat treatments for bedbugs involve the placement of specialized heaters throughout the property to raise the ambient temperature above what bedbugs can survive. While this is an effective way to get rid of bedbugs currently on the property, it does not do anything to prevent future incursions. Chemical treatments are more site-specific, and utilize a variety of different chemicals for both immediate eradication and longer-lasting protection. Our team at Green Machine Pest Control offers exclusively chemical bedbug treatments.

IF I HAVE CRICKETS, WILL I GET SCORPIONS?

If scorpions are not already in your neighborhood, having crickets will not increase the risk factor. However, if your area is known for having scorpions, the presence of crickets can certainly entice them into your property.

DO I NEED TO TREAT THE WHOLE HOUSE FOR TERMITES IF THEY ARE JUST IN ONE SPOT?

Unfortunately, yes. Just because the damage is only visible in one spot does not mean that they have not spread much further. Rather than risk missing some of the termites and having to treat the property again, it is much more efficient to treat the whole house at once.

CAN YOU TREAT JUST THE BEDROOM IF I HAVE BEDBUGS?

Again, unfortunately, these pests tend to travel much more than many people realize. If a bedroom is infested, the rest of the property almost certainly is as well. Pest control of any kind must be thorough to be effective in the long-term.

CAN I GET A TERMITE WARRANTY IF I HAVEN’T HAD A TREATMENT?

Yes! As long as you have had an inspection and are current on your monthly coverage, you are eligible for a termite warranty.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR INSPECTIONS?

No! Our initial inspections are always free.
